So You Want to Be a Developer…

I’ve been staring at the Pragmatic Programmer Black Friday sale flier for a couple days (the tab is open in my browser so I don’t forget to go on a crazy book buying spree) and it finally clicked in my head – I need to tell you about Learn to Program by Chris Pine!

I gave it to my son early this year and he loved it. He made it through the whole book in a couple weeks and is still going back to it to play with the examples. It’s an easy to follow introduction to programming principles, with clear examples and exercises and isn’t condescending at all.

So, if you’ve always wanted to learn how to program but don’t know where to start… now you know. And if you wait until Friday to order it, you can get it for 40% off! Who knows? Maybe you’ll end up creating the next Google or Twitter…

And if you’re already a developer but want to be better, The Pragmatic Programmer is a must-read. It’s language agnostic and provides design and career tips from experienced developers. Really, you must read it.
